About
This conference calls for people, movements, organizations and collectives to present alternative accounts to the political dimensions of civic engagement, mutual aid and revolution as they relate to economics, politics, invention, technology, work, artistic and cultural production, the body, pedagogy and social change. The conference promises to create a provocative space for comparative critical dialogue between activists, revolutionaries, educators, artists, musicians, scholars, dancers, actors and writers. The conference invites panels and workshop on all aspects of social change from the revolutionary to the academic.
The 3rd Annual Law and Disorder Conference will take place April 6-8th, 2012 at Portland State University.
*Safer Space Policy*
Law and Disorder recognizes that issues of privilege and oppression exist in society both socially and institutionally. Through education, skill-sharing and advocacy, we work to create a safe and accessible space that values and builds common understanding and solidarity. We strive to make the conference welcoming, engaging and supportive to everyone by asking conference organizers and participants to be conscious of their words and actions. All forms of aggression based on one’s age, gender, sexual identity, religion, race/ ethnicity, or ability will not be tolerated.
In accordance with this safer space policy, if anyone in attendance feels that the group space is unsafe or oppressive, we encourage them to address the situation mindfully. If the situation needs further assistance, the conference’s security volunteers will assist in the attempt for mediation which includes accountability and deliberation. If the oppressive behavior persists, the person/s will be asked to leave the space.

[...] The next weekend, April 15-17, I’ll be speaking at the Law and Disorder conference at Portland State University. I’ll give a talk called “Police Accountability and Police Abolition: Dilemmas, Paradoxes, Strategies.” In the first half of the session, I will consider the sometimes thorny relationship between the police accountability perspective and the police abolition perspective, outlining the fundamental differences in their assumptions and goals, and considering the possibility for cooperation on short-term campaigns. The second half of the session will be opened up for audience discussion, and I’ll ask the participants to reflect on their own experiences in pursuing demands for accountability or organizing toward abolition. The talk is presently scheduled at 10:30 am on Saturday April 16, but check the website for any updates: http://lawandisorder.wordpress.com/about/ [...]
I need a civil rights lawyer to help me deal with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office in Washington State. I live in Vancouver, WA.
My family hired private detectives in the US and Canada to follow me and told the Clark County Sheriff’s Office not to interfere. There was a trespassing and attempted break into my house and the deputies I called, after they saw the vehicle used belonged to the detectives, told me they wouldn’t investigate and that the woman I saw was trying to serve me papers. They didn’t let me file a police report. Every time I went to the sheriff’s office to try to file a police report they didn’t let me. I finally did it through email, and I filed service reports against some deputies, too. All of my reports have been dismissed.
By having me followed, my family found out which vets I was taking my dog to and paid them to kill him. My family had my emails hacked and my phone tapped, and found out an online dating website I was a member of and gave my personal information to a man who thought we were going to get married in a month.
All of this surveillance was done with the knowledge of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office also know my mother reported me a missing person claiming I went missing in Seattle on August 08th, 2008. The Sheriff’s Office also knows of ongoing legal problems with my family since 1994 and that my mother stole an inheritance that belongs to me. They also know I tried to file a restraining order against her in 2009 and had my phone number changed to avoid her harassing calls. There is no way they thought my family had me under surveillance because they were concerned for my well-being.
The sheriff’s office has a file on me. I need to know what is in that file, and why they have a file on me.
I need a lawyer to represent me in Washington and sue the Clark County Sheriff’s Office for misconduct and corruption.
